Serving someone is sales.
That’s the whole idea. Serve them. Help them. Support them.
Connect someone with something that means something.
They might even pay you for it. If it means enough. If it has value to them.
Sell something you won’t regret to people who won’t regret it either. They’ll look back on it fondly.
Does that sound like the “sales” you’ve heard of in the past? Does that sound like the sales you’ve made?
Tell them about something they don’t fully understand but you think they will love. You think it will help them make progress.
That new album, new restaurant, new job.
The friend that is hosting you at their golf club. They are selling to you. That’s okay! You’ll love it too. You might want to join. That’s service.

The salesperson at the car dealership mentions your young kids, mentions that you should look at the SUV not the sedan. They’ve been down this road before. Not just selling you a bigger car, they are selling you a better outcome. That’s service.
The church is hosting a “day of service,” and they’ll be doing yard work at the senior center. That is service too. They would love you to join them on Sundays.
Sales as a service is doing someone a solid.
How will you serve?
